"...thanks to EVR for being such an amazing running club! I started running 6 years ago and ran off and on with the club at first. Once I started coming regularly, I realized what a wealth of knowledge I could get from participating in runs and talking with fellow runners! It took me 10 marathons and numerous half marathons to get my marathon time below 4 hours...a big reason why I was able to achieve this last year was because of regularly participating in group runs. Yeah, I know…it seems obvious…run more and you’ll get better. But this group provides so much more than that.
How hard is it to get out there for a run on your own in the heat, or the cold, or the early morning hours, or when you’re tired or sore. I have learned a ton about how to deal with aches and pains and tell them apart from true injuries from sharing stories with other runners in EVR. I really have all of my EVR friends to thank for helping me reach my goals! For anyone fairly new to the club, I have to tell you that when I started running I couldn’t even run ½ mile without walking. Now I’ve run a 50 miler and qualified for Boston twice!
